AFRICOM Lessons from the Philippines

General NewsSource: Crossed Crocodiles: lessons from the Philippines

We can learn a lot about AFRICOM by observing US military activity in the Philippines, particularly if we understand the thinking behind it. Much of the military planning of the Bush administration has been done by participants in PNAC, Project for the New American Century. PNAC has been around since the early 90s and includes Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and just about all the other neocon "thinkers" who wanted to invade Iraq since the early 90s, caused the invasion in 2003, and got it so wrong. They are the same ones who have been threatening Iran on the basis of information they know to be false. They used 9/11 to implement plans they had been discussing for years, taking advantage of the attack to push an increasingly aggressive militarism on the US and the world.

The self-avowed aim of the US is to perpetuate its position of being the world’s sole superpower in order to re-order the world. Its strategy to perpetuate its status is to prevent the rise of any rivals. To do this, it is seeking the capacity to deter and defeat potential enemies anywhere in the world by retaining and realigning its “global posture” or its ability to operate across the globe through its worldwide network of forward-deployed troops, bases, and access agreements. Today, the US believes that, of all its potential rivals, China poses the greatest threat and must therefore be contained before it becomes even more powerful. [1]

As well as calling for "regime change" in Iraq, some PNAC neocons have called for "regime change" in China and describe: "the defining military conflicts of the twenty-first century: if not a big war with China, then a series of Cold War-style standoffs that stretch out over years and decades."

Notes from MoveOn.org, a grandpa organization in this struggle

General NewsDear MoveOn member,

Yesterday, an amazing thing happened. After the Senate's shameful vote, and after President Bush called MoveOn "disgusting,"1 our email started to fill up with messages like this one:

I'm currently in Iraq. I do not agree with this war, and if I did support this war, it would not matter. You have the RIGHT to speak the truth. We KNOW that you support us. Thank you for speaking out for being our voice. We do not have a voice. We are overshooted by those who say that we soldiers do not support organizations like MoveOn. WE DO.

YOU ARE OUR voice.

What Africa needs.

General NewsAfrica doesn't need any boots, we don't need anything blood related, we have enough blood sucking mosquitoes already. What we need is free trade. Yes, the problem weighing Africa down is the very unfree trade and the Nations working against our progress by promoting this, which promotes all forms of child exploitation and labour. According to a recent study, the impostion of un-free trade on Africa by the west in exchange for paltry aid, forces Africa to open its markets and results in poor Africans loosing a staggering 272 billion dollars! http://www.ekklesia.co.uk/content/news_syndication/article_050621trade.shtml

Those Nations who stand between us getting the real value for our produce but continue promoting our underpayment, must be seriously condemned and halted.

The United states that claims it intends to protect Africa by installing this AFRICOM, in adition to being one of the obstructions we have to liberation and free trade, were the only Nation which blocked a United Nations proposed embargo on gun trade indiscriminately across Africa. Read this here- http://www.commondreams.org/headlines06/0622-08.htm

Now, that is our problem, the guns in the hands of every willing and un willing hungry desperate militia. And it doesn't take more guns to get guns off the street, you musn't kill 35,000/month as is currently in Iraq to save us, what it takes is our ending the hypocrisy now! Ending the US big lobbyists gun trade which the US economy enjoys and promoting free trade. Bele full no dey cause for trouble.

Link to US advertisement for AFRICOM job positions, though Africa rejected it

General Newshttp://www.cpms.osd.mil/africom/positions.aspx?sort=title

Even though Africa rejects it, US seems to be going ahead to fill job spots for AFRICOM, in the words of the US principal deputy under secretary of defense for policy, - Ryan Henry (above link), it's a counter-terrorism move. Well maybe it's for a pseudo-Africa. You know with all this technology, they may have a pseudo-Africa in hollywood where these AFRICOM agents will be employed. NOT here...

Terrorism killed 5,000+, Counterterrorism has killed 1 million Iraqis and displaced more. Africa wants, needs and invites neither!

What say you...

Capture is no freedom!

The United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM or AFRICOM) is a new Unified Combatant Command being created by the United States military, to cover Africa and is being arranged to be fully operational by September 2008. But Africa says No! Thanks but no thanks.

The consensus among Africans, is straight up dislike and complete rejection of this millitary installation. Africans are tired of foreign hands in their business and reject being pawns and toys any longer in western, eastern or any other foreign political exploitation. The United States has probably bypassed the African masses and struck deals with a few incompetent leaders to continue with this military aggression program, so we the African people rise up fast and strong to make our voices and choice of our destiny heard.
